Amazon’s success in Spain continues to soar, with a gross annual revenue of 7.1 billion euros in the previous year, marking an impressive 11 percent increase from 2022. The e-commerce giant boasts a strong presence in the Spanish market, with around fifteen thousand SMEs currently active on its platform.
In its recent annual update, Amazon highlighted its dominant position in the Spanish e-commerce landscape. Apart from retail sales, the company also generates revenue from advertising, logistical services for sales partners, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Investments and Impact
Since its inception in Spain in 2010, Amazon has invested a total of 17.5 billion euros in the country, with a significant portion of that investment, 3.4 billion euros, made last year. These investments include infrastructure, operational centers, offices, and employee salaries. Independent economic consultancy Keystone Strategy estimates that Amazon’s contribution to Spain’s GDP stands at an impressive 13 billion euros.

With over 25,000 employees in Spain by the end of 2023, Amazon is set to create even more job opportunities following the announcement of 15.7 billion euros in AWS investments in the country.
Expansion and Growth
Amazon’s presence in Spain extends to approximately 40 facilities across the country, including recently opened logistics centers in Zaragoza and Girona. Future plans include the launch of a new center in Siero (Asturias) and two delivery stations in Granada and A Coruña later this year.
