Exciting News: CodePen Now Offers Google Social Login!
CodePen has recently added a new social login option – Google! Until now, we only had GitHub, Twitter, and Facebook login buttons available. However, Twitter login stopped working last week and was actually the least popular option among our users. As a result, we decided to replace it with Google, considering that a large number of our users have @gmail.com
email addresses. This new addition is expected to be a hit among our community.
But here’s the essential thing you need to know about our social login feature.
Our social login method simply matches the email address provided during the login request with the one associated with your CodePen account. This means that you can use any social service to log in, as long as the email addresses match. So, even though we removed the Twitter login option, no one was locked out of their accounts. Besides, you always have the option to log in using your password or reset it if needed.
Here’s another interesting tidbit: the Log In and Sign Up buttons essentially do the same thing. While we have separate pages for each to improve user experience, the functionality remains consistent. If you attempt to Log In without an existing account, we’ll quickly create one for you. On the other hand, if you try to Sign Up but already have an account, we’ll simply log you in.
